An award winning Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser, Adrian is just another boring accountant.

In his spare time he flies a Cessna 150 (an instrument and night rated pilot), scuba dives whenever he can (but only in warm water), is a member of the 5am Club and loves to cook. He has a boring taste in cars and drives a BMW i8 (yes, really).

He is a professional Ballroom and Latin dance teacher and together with Debbie runs a small dance business.

And let's deal with the most important question – it is his real name and he was 13 3/4 when the book was published.

Renowned for thinking outside the box, he is known as a problem solver, with an ability to make difficult situations understandable at all levels.

My role is an exciting and innovative role, it spans across business strategy and development. Our key focus is client experience. Quove is a fast-growing entrepreneurial business, with huge ambitions, grounded in core values that align with my own personal values.

Outside of work you will mostly find me attempting to renovate my period property in the wilds of the Suffolk countryside or travelling somewhere new and preferable warm with my daughters.

Debbie

Has enjoyed working in accounts within various sized corporations for over 21 years and in practice for the last 18 years with businesses having a turnover of less than £500k to those having millions. Having worked in both business and practice it has been interesting to see the different perspectives between the two.

Has been known to occasionally be a reluctant passenger in a Cessna 150 (unless lunch and wine is involved). Enjoys scuba diving, where the phone and email hasn’t yet had a chance to survive, and the sharks are friendlier than HMRC. Not yet a member of the 5am Club! Loves to eat her husband’s cooking. Also enjoys music, theatre, sewing, camping with my teenage daughter and discovering new places to eat.

Can’t believe she married someone called Adrian Mole … fortunately the children haven’t read the books, and no, her name was never Pandora!

Also enjoys sorting out the smaller problems that keep businesses ticking over along and providing clients with support.

My background is in the healthcare industry. Having previously run a busy physiotherapy practice, I joined Quove in 2020.

My role in the business has evolved over time; initially, with the arrival of the pandemic, I assisted with the huge workload incurred by processing furlough claims and dealt with most of the back-office administration.

I now take care of clients' bookkeeping, VAT returns and I run many of our client’s payrolls. I also deal with much of the company secretarial administration; it will be me you hear from when your confirmation statement is due for filing.

Outside of work, I love to spend time with friends and family, especially my little granddaughter who shares my love of nature, gardening and crafting.

I began my accounting/bookkeeping career in the recession of the 90s working at a local firm in their audit department. Swiftly moving to the insolvency department, because that seemed more fun compared to audit (read into that what you will). “Insolvency” was later optimistically rebranded “corporate recovery” although I never noticed much of that going on.

After several years at the bleak house of business I decided it wasn’t much fun after all and set up working with several clients in the agricultural sector. This moved on as it seems small farms do, to the construction and property sector. There I learnt quite a lot about planning, a bit about computer networks, and more than I would have liked about foul water drainage.

At this point business moved off the land entirely, and into the sea. I decided to stay safely on the quay. A life as an aquatic accountant not suiting me because of my apparently over developed fear of drowning.

I had the pleasure of taking on the finance management of a local manufacturing company and its associates, running the accounts and IT departments and sitting in endless senior management meetings. Well, not quite endless.

I’m now happily back in practice where its handy to have experience of running a broad range of businesses, applying my jack of all trade’s skill set to accounts preparation, bookkeeping, VAT, and just general stuff trying to help clients however I can.

And of course, pastimes, how could I forget! amongst other things, they involve reading and driving to work. Not at the same time.

I would consider myself a down to earth, family orientated kind of girl. Despite spending time abroad in my younger years my favourite place to be is at home surrounded by my family. I have two young boys who keep me on my toes, and a husband who runs his own business which I work for on the days I am not at Quove. When I am not at work I enjoy playing hockey and walking the dog. Now the boys are a bit bigger I would love to teach them how to Ski as this was something I was very passionate about when I was in my teens.

My other hobbies over the years have included horse riding, where I competed in a mixture of different events but my favourite was show jumping, and I was a singer in a covers band.

I started my Accountancy career working for one of the Big 5 firms in Bury St Edmunds, but decided after completing my training that a big firm mentality wasn’t for me, it was too impersonal. Having left in 2004 I thought that Industry may be a better fit, and worked in everything from a small family run business to a multinational company that required travel to various countries for training and meetings. However, once I started my family I realised this was no longer a good fit.

I first met Adrian when he taught my husband and I our first dance for our wedding in 2010. Our paths then crossed again when he became the accountant for our family business. At the time I was due to go on Maternity leave with my second child. Knowing I was not keen to go back to my previous role I discussed my situation with Adrian and that is how I ended up at Quove in 2017. The rest, as people say, is history.

I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Kent and then qualified as a teacher a year later. After spending some time in the classroom, I decided to try something completely different, leading me to join the company in April 2024.

At Quove, my job is incredibly varied. If you call or visit the office I will often be your first point of contact, I also help generate social media content, file accounts and tax returns, complete VAT returns, run some payrolls and bookkeeping, among other things.

I'm a passionate individual with a love for adventure and the thrill of outdoor sports. In my spare time, I enjoy mountain biking, running, and water skiing, and when the winter months roll in, I take my excitement to the track with trackdaying. Cars, boats, travel and baking are some of my greatest interests, and I'm always looking for my next adventure.

Professionally, I have a keen eye for business, having founded a successful super yacht valeting business, working closely with MDs and CEOs. I'm also currently a trainee accountant and have worked my way through AAT Levels, continuing to grow in my career.

I'm always seeking new opportunities to combine my love for business with my passion for adventure and the outdoors.

Lili

Originally from Suffolk and a 2023 Illustration graduate from Norwich University of the Arts, I joined Quove not long after my graduation. Although accounting could not be further from the creative industry I’m used to, my role as Office Administrator allowed me to gain experience in bookkeeping and payroll tasks, expanding my skillset beyond my creative background.

Alongside general accounting tasks, I was assigned to maintain the business’ social media and grow our marketing strategies from graphic adverts to blog articles. This opportunity to contribute to the team from a primarily marketing standpoint enabled me to combine my creative practice with my business skills.

I have held an interest in accounting from an early age, an interest that led to me studying Accounting and Finance at the University of Essex and more recently lead me to joining Quove. In my spare time, I enjoy rowing and often spend my weekends out on the water. This passion lead me to joining my University Rowing club, where I enjoyed competing and teaching rowing to beginners, as well as, later serving as club president. Now at Quove, I’m keen to apply my knowledge and continue growing within the accounting field.
