Positive Accountant: Morning

Positive Accountant: Morning image

Shock news - the grass is still green, the sky still blue and the sun came up this morning.

Life is as normal.

I don't know whether you're reading this hungover from celebratory champagne, or from amorose glass of scotch, or whether indeed you've bounded out of bed this morning saying'election, was there an election ?'

What I do know is that there will be changes and challenges ahead, and that would be thecase whichever party came to power. After all, five years ago Boris had a landslide but didn't predict COVID and everything that went with it. Let alone 42 days of Liz Truss.

Maybe, at such a time of tumultuous change you're looking for mature, calm reflection from your favourite accountant. (You'd be foolish, but maybe...)

I'll try therefore to find some words of wisdom. How about the serenity prayer:-

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference."

Or if that was. bit heavy, alternatively, we could heed the advice of Baz Luhrmann:-

"Accept certain inalienable truths

Prices will rise, politicians will philander, you too, will get old

And when you do, you'll fantasize that when you were young

Prices were reasonable, politicians were noble...

...Always Wear sunscreen"

(Recognising that most of our readers are UK based, I'll add the following caveat - 'Unless it's raining, because that would be, well, silly')

Or if even that was too hard going for first thing in the morning, here is long term client Lynette's limerick (with the fourth line edited):-

'There once was an MP called Keir

To the left he liked to veer

He won the election

which gave him a happy feeling

And celebrated with lots of beer'

On that note I'll leave you to the rest of your day.

Change is ahead, we'll be there with you...
